    Welding

    Welding continues to be classified as a ‘special process’ under common ISO 9001 quality systems, meaning its quality cannot be easily verified after completion. To ensure compliance, the welding industry must meet stringent requirements—not only contractual obligations but also national, European, and international regulations, standards, codes, and directives.

    Key examples include the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, EN 1090 series, and ISO 3834 series. While these standards vary, they all share a fundamental requirement: the establishment and implementation of a robust fabrication control system.
